Finding domain and range with quadratics is an important part of Algebra. I’m always looking for and creating new ways to make it easier for students to understand. Here are some ideas for making it easier for you!

Get this domain and range poster

Of the two, my students always struggle with range the most.

They want to write the x-values for range instead of the y-values.

I wanted them to have a great visual for finding domain and range.

And, I made it free for you to download right here from Kennedyfamfive!😁

Use a Mnemonic Device

I love the one Julie at Secondary Math Solutions shares: “DoLaR RiBiT” (domain–left to right; range–bottom to top). She has a little frog graphic design to go with it, perfect for the classroom. So cute!

Assess it

Here is a mini formative assessment that you can create using Google Forms. It’s my mini how-to!

If you’d prefer, you can see screenshots of the one I created, here.

I especially like these formative assessments for homework checks or an exit ticket. They really pinpoint where kids are struggling and then use that to design a great warm up for the next day.

Keep. It. Stupid. Simple.

Don’t overcomplicate this. Don’t overcomplicate this. Don’t…

Oh, sorry, that’s what I tell myself sometimes!😂

This section of graphing already has plenty of tiny details for students to keep straight. No need in making it anything more than it is.

Lots of practice and repetition really works!

You’ve got this!
